Using small acts of care as a performative practice piece to show the care, reflection and emotional connection to nature and others. The investigation into the futility of human desire for permanence in the face of impermanence led to my approach, which challenges previous narratives through small acts of empathy. Representing the futility of permanence and legacy, I use seed paper notes of care and flowers; the grave stones embody the human desire for permanence, where decay reveals the persistent, resistant force of nature. The documentation and presentation of the photographs of the performance act as proof, memory and storytelling. By questioning the determination to preserve, this ephemeral performance of leaving flowers and notes at the gravestones, despite them breaking down within a week, exposes the current hierarchies between human and non-human entities.
